Prof. Ita Bassey Ewa, a nuclear physicist has been appointed as Nigeria’s minister for science and technology following his successful screening by the country’s senate (upper legislative chamber).
Ewa who hails from Akwa Ibom in South-South Nigeria was until his appointment a researcher at the Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Nigeria and a PHD in nuclear physics also from ABU.
He had worked with several organisations including the International Atomic Energy Agency. He was also a member of the technical advisory committee on drafting of guidelines of the licensing of sites for nuclear plants in Nigeria. He is an assessor to the Nigeria Journal of Pure Sciences.
