The African Union and Food and Agriculture Organization have agreed to work together to strengthen the capacity in Africa to reduce post-harvest losses.

The joint project according to a statement would involve training regional institutions, national government officials and development agencies in developing policies, strategies and investment programs for post-harvest loss reduction.

It also aims to establish a virtual network and formulate proposals for investment projects focused on post-harvest loss reduction in the region.

The memorandum of understanding underpinning the project was signed recently in Addis Ababa.
