Germany has pledged its support to Ethiopia’s effort to promote green economy and climate resilient activities.

German ambassador to Ethiopia, Lieselore Cyrus gave this indication at a workshop aimed at providing information on opportunities with regard to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in Ethiopia held last week.
The workshop has the aim of outlining the fundamental principles of CDM projects, including financing and consultation
possibilities.
Dessalegn Mesfin, deputy director general of the Environmental Protection Authority said that Ethiopia was already undertaking projects targeted at reducing carbon emission.
With over 90 participants, the workshop offered a platform for project developers, financing institutions, donors and multipliers from the field to help achieve the successful implementation of Carbon Finance projects in Ethiopia.
The CDM, is one of the mechanisms introduced under the Kyoto Protocol which allows project developers from developing countries such as Ethiopia to have their emission reductions certified and sell them at the international carbon market.
